Should I Have Regular Check-ups?
Many patients tend to want to save money by scheduling a visit only when they feel a pain. By that time there may be significant damage that in the long run will lead to more discomfort and tooth decay.
Children should see a Dentist by their first birthday. Adults should regularly schedule teeth cleaning and plaque removal every 3 to 4 months.
Dentistry is widely considered necessary for complete overall health. We encourage prevention of dental caries through proper hygiene (tooth brushing and flossing), fluoride, and tooth polishing.
What is Plaque?
Plaque is the soft, sticky layer of bacteria, which is constantly forming on the teeth. Usually it is invisible to the naked eye, but when a person is not adequately brushing, it can build up to where it appears to be a thick white coating on the teeth at the gum line. Regular periodic cleaning prevents plaque buildup. If not cleaned and removed, it could later lead to more serious gum disease and tooth decay.
